Eagles Nest Golf Course in Goshen Township Closes as Drees Homes Plans 305 Homes
Eagles Nest Golf Course in Goshen Township, Clermont County, Ohio, closed to the public on Oct. 18 after more than 60 years. Drees Homes will redevelop the 163-acre site with 305 single-family homes planned, and the clubhouse contents go to auction on Nov. 19.
According to WCPO, Eagles Nest Golf Course in Goshen Township, Ohio, has shut down after more than 60 years of operation. The township is located in Clermont County, east of Cincinnati. Sitting along State Route 28, the course was sold earlier this year and is set to be redeveloped by Drees Homes. Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, was its final day open to the public, and members and guests played one last round on Monday, Oct. 19.
Manager Jason Knoderer, who has worked at the course for more than a decade, described the way he approached the job. "Every person that came here, I wanted to make sure that they felt special, that they should be out here to play golf," Knoderer said. Member Dominic Costanzo, who had belonged for three years, said he "would've continued being a member here if it was possible."

Details of the redevelopment were reported Aug. 7, 2026, in a Cincinnati Business Courier report by Brian Planalp, republished by Local 12. Fort Mitchell, Kentucky-based Drees Homes, one of Greater Cincinnati's largest homebuilders, will construct 305 single-family homes on the back two-thirds of the 163-acre course. The site sits roughly three miles outside the Interstate 275 beltway. The plan also calls for 250 apartments and a Kroger-anchored commercial site. Drees expected to break ground by the end of the year, and the Business Courier's headline described the 305 homes as approved.
In a statement to WCPO, Drees Homes said: "Drees Homes has worked closely with Goshen Township leaders on a plan for the property and hope to create a neighborhood the community will be proud of for years to come." Lorna Rose and Jim Poe of the Goshen Township Historical Society said they are working to hold onto some items from the course. "We want to keep the history of our past; we want to keep it alive and keep it for future generations," Rose said.
Eagles Nest is one of several courses where the land is moving from golf to housing. Lennar has a plan for the former Badlands golf course in Las Vegas, another closed course becoming homes. In Florida, Village Golf Club in Royal Palm Beach faces redevelopment under a state infill law.

Equipment and clubhouse contents from the course are headed to sale. Myron Bowling Auctioneers lists an online "Facility Closing" auction for Eagle's Nest Golf Course on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2026. The listing includes 55 Club Car electric golf carts, John Deere mowers, tractors, maintenance shop equipment and the contents of the clubhouse. The sale price, the seller, a specific groundbreaking date beyond Drees' expectation of the end of the year, and the fate of the clubhouse building itself beyond the auction of its contents have not been reported.
