The Alabama Golf Foundation has announced Golf House Alabama, a $30 million public campus on about 80 acres in Irondale, Alabama, adjacent to Pine Tree Golf & Country Club. The site sits just off Interstate 459 and Grants Mill Road and is planned as a permanent home for statewide golf organizations, with a public golf house, an Alabama Golf Hall of Fame, and a lighted 30-bay hitting area among the first-phase pieces. AL.com reports that construction is expected to begin this fall, that groundbreaking is scheduled for November 2026, and that the campus is expected to open in 2028.
The foundation grew from a partnership between the Alabama Golf Association and the PGA of America’s Alabama-Northwest Florida Section. AGF President Grantland Rice and Eric Eshleman, acting vice president of the PGA of America, are the named public voices in that account. The Birmingham Business Journal has headlined the complex as Gorrie-backed and adds that an inaugural Hall of Fame class is to be celebrated in February 2028.
The program, as reported by AL.com, includes the public golf house, the Hall of Fame, the lighted 30-bay hitting area with TrackMan launch monitors and covered bays, an outdoor event lawn, and a dedicated instructional area with individual clubhouses for local collegiate and other major programs. The same account adds an agronomy and careers center tied to Auburn University, a championship-caliber par 3 course lit for evening play, and a short game area. AGF is in a capital campaign to raise about $30 million for phase one, a first-phase figure in the same neighborhood as the $25 million clubhouse at Five Ponds.

Land around the club is the adjacent context, not the campus budget. Earlier local coverage documents Pine Whispers LLC, organized by Jim Gorrie, buying city acreage near Pine Tree, first 45 acres at $45,000 per acre for $2,025,000 and later an expanded 81.229 acres for an estimated $3,655,305, and purchasing Pine Tree Country Club for $12 million, as recorded by the Trussville Tribune and CBS 42. AL.com attributes the Irondale acreage purchase to AGF. Council coverage names Pine Whispers LLC. The published accounts do not set out the closing path between those names.
Published plans do not name an architect, builder, or landscape firm, and they do not publish square footage or a phase-two budget. Vertical construction has not started.
