Legacy Golf Properties buys Achasta in Dahlonega and puts a design firm on a clubhouse patio bar
Legacy Golf Properties has bought Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega, Georgia, its first club outside Texas. A design firm is already drawing a clubhouse update with a patio bar and dining area aimed at the mountain views.
Legacy Golf Properties, a Kerrville, Texas, ownership group, took over Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega, Georgia, on July 20, 2026, its first purchase outside Texas and its fourth club overall. The semi-private North Georgia club sits about an hour north of Atlanta and is built around a 10,500-square-foot clubhouse that already holds The Achasta Grille and event space for gatherings of about 250.
Golf Inc., writing August 31, and The Golf Wire, reporting the July 20 close, both put the clubhouse upgrade at the center of Legacy's near-term plan. President Steven Held said the immediate focus is upgrading the clubhouse and raising food and beverage, service, and course conditions to match the club. Club + Resort Business reported August 24 that Troon will help manage operations, agronomy, retail, food and beverage, and sales and marketing for the new owners.

Chief operating officer Justin Jafarian told Golf Inc. a design firm is already working on plans to update the clubhouse and add a patio bar and dining area that maximizes the views. Legacy also plans capital this year across the golf course, practice facilities, tennis courts, pickleball courts, and the resort-style pool. The company has not named the design firm, a clubhouse architect, a general contractor, a patio-bar budget, or a firm construction calendar in the materials reviewed for this piece, so those stay omitted. The purchase price was not disclosed.
Achasta's course is a Jack Nicklaus Signature layout that opened in 2000, plays to a par 72, and has hosted PGA Tour and U.S. Open qualifiers. That course history is context. The news for Best Clubhouse is the ownership change and the named clubhouse capital, not a Nicklaus routing story. The club's own site still presents The Achasta Grille, meeting spaces, tennis and pickleball, and the pool as the amenity core next to the Nicklaus 18.
This is a golf-development deal in the same B2B lane as Ocala's $63 million IronCrest sale and Ohana's $191 million Panther National purchase, where clubhouse work travels with the ownership story. Legacy's other clubs are Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Cimarron Hills in Georgetown, and Buffalo Creek in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Achasta is the first out-of-state step. A patio-bar reopen date and a named design firm are not in the current release package.
