Members at Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club in Vero Beach, Florida, approved $36 million in upgrades that cover a full renovation of the main clubhouse and construction of a new standalone Lifestyle & Wellness Center called The Cove. The vote passed with 77 percent support, general manager Michael Gibson told Vero News.
Peacock + Lewis, the Palm Beach-area architects who specialize in private clubhouses, drew the plans for the main building, which is about 40 years old. The work includes a lobby redesign that removes a central interior staircase, expansion of the card room to seat 100, renovated locker rooms, an enlarged golf shop, and a new grab-and-go café and marketplace. The centerpiece is a two-story, 6,000-square-foot addition oriented toward the ninth hole of the River Course: 3,000 square feet of interior and patio dining on the upper level and a matching 3,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor bar below. Gibson said the layout was inspired by a similar setup members had seen at Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club.

Leo A. Daly, a long-established architecture and engineering firm, designed The Cove, a roughly 15,000-square-foot building that will sit on the site of the old swimming pool east of the clubhouse. The program includes fitness and spa facilities, treatment rooms, Pilates studios, a café, an outdoor gazebo bar, a resort-style pool with lap lanes, a sun shelf and hot tub, a Zen garden, and views of the Indian River Lagoon. The façade will use curved white panels and glass. Club materials on the Future page schedule Cove construction from fall 2026 through fall 2027. Vero News reported that the club hoped to break ground around October 1, 2026, once final drawings and permits were in hand, with a 12-to-13-month build timed for the 2027-28 winter season.
A separate $2.5 million golf practice facility, approved the previous year, was already starting construction in April 2026 and was expected to finish around October, roughly when Cove work begins. For the main clubhouse itself, the club's schedule calls for a summer 2027 start and fall 2028 finish; Vero News quoted a May 2027 start and early-summer 2028 completion. Membership has grown from 586 to 1,120 since early 2021 and is expected to top out near 1,200. Club leaders say that once the clubhouse work is complete, the total capital invested over seven years will reach about $65 million.
