Spanish Hills Club in Camarillo, California, Sees a New Leaseholder as Century Golf Partners Takes Over Management
Spanish Hills Club in Camarillo, California, has a new leaseholder. SHC Golf Partners, owned by an affiliate of Century Golf Partners and Root’n USA, took the lease effective October 1, 2026, with Century Golf managing the private club.
Spanish Hills Club, a private country club in the Ventura County city of Camarillo, California, has a new leaseholder. SHC Golf Partners, LLC, owned by an affiliate of Century Golf Partners and Root’n USA, took the lease effective October 1, 2026, according to The Golf Wire, and Century Golf Partners will manage the club.
The move builds on an existing relationship. Century Golf Partners, a privately held company founded in 2005 whose businesses include the Arnold Palmer Golf Management brand, has supported the club since September 2024, Club + Resort Business reported. SHC Golf Partners replaces Camaraderie Clubs, led by Travis Brasher, which held the lease and managed the club for the past six years and, by both outlets’ accounts, made significant investments there. The partnership behind SHC also acquired nearby Las Posas Country Club in 2021, and Jim Hinckley, partner and chief executive of Century Golf Partners, said the Spanish Hills deal “deepens our roots in Camarillo.”
Opened in 1993, Spanish Hills is built around an 18-hole championship course designed by Robert E. Cupp. The club sits on one of the highest points in Camarillo, with panoramic views over Ventura County, and offers a tennis center, a resort-style pool, fitness facilities, and Topa Restaurant & Lounge. “Spanish Hills has one of the most remarkable settings in Southern California,” said Seh Yoo, chief financial officer of Root’n USA, which also owns Marbella Country Club in San Juan Capistrano. The property has also appeared on screen recently, serving as a filming location for the second season of Netflix’s “Beef” and for Apple TV’s “Palm Royale.”

For members, the message from the new partners is continuity. The club’s on-site team remains in place, and operations have continued without interruption through the handover. Hinckley framed the deal as a base for further growth and improvement at Spanish Hills, but no capital program, budget, or timeline has been announced.

Several terms remain undisclosed. Neither announcement says what SHC Golf Partners paid for the lease, how long it runs, or what the rent is, and neither identifies the owner of the underlying property. The value of the investments Camaraderie made during its tenure has not been published.

That structure sets Spanish Hills apart from other club-market moves. Spey Bay Golf Club in Scotland and Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Songdo have drawn recent attention in the market. At Spanish Hills, what changed hands is the lease, and with it the right to run the club. At a leased club, the lessee and its manager generally make the decisions members feel most directly, from staffing and programming to how much money goes back into the property. The partnership now has two private clubs in the same city, one owned and one leased. How it runs the pair, and what it chooses to invest at Spanish Hills, will shape what this change means for the club’s members.
