Trump International proposes U.S. Presidential Golf Course in West Palm Beach
Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, has asked Palm Beach County to designate the land-lease club as the permanent United States Presidential Golf Course, with club-paid presidential lodging designed with GSA and the Secret Service.
Trump International Golf Club L.C. has asked Palm Beach County to designate its land-lease club as the permanent United States Presidential Golf Course and to add club-paid presidential lodging designed with the General Services Administration and the United States Secret Service. The property is Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, near Palm Beach International Airport.
Attorney Harvey Oyer III of Shutts & Bowen LLP sent the request to county commissioners in a letter dated Thursday, September 3, 2026. WPBF and CBS12 reported the letter on September 5. Hoodline published the same day.
The plan would open the club to past, current, and future U.S. presidents and to visiting foreign heads of state. TIGC would provide facilities at no cost to the federal government, work with GSA and the Secret Service on presidential lodging on the property, and pay to construct that lodging. The letter calls the work a gift to successors and states that Trump will be out of office before the project could be finished. The asset on offer is a Jim Fazio 27-hole club on the Summit Boulevard corridor, with a Championship Course (par 72), the Trump Nine (par 36), and a REG Architects clubhouse of about 45,000 square feet.

Palm Beach County owns the land. The Trump family and the Trump Organization own the golf club and lease the ground from the county under airport-area settlement terms from the late 1990s. Hoodline reports a possible structure in which the county would remain landlord and lease to a federal agency. That structure is proposed, not executed. No commission vote, agenda item, or published federal agreement has been reported.

County Administrator Joseph Abruzzo, in comments carried by WPBF, said, “This has the potential to be a remarkable and historic opportunity for Palm Beach County.” He said county administration is eager to get into the details and fully explore what the proposal could mean. CBS12 reported that Abruzzo compared the prestige to communities competing to host presidential libraries and said the administration will work under the direction of the Board of County Commissioners, examining the proposal with Trump’s team and appropriate federal agencies. The review is exploratory.
Trump.com dates the Championship Course to the club’s 1999 opening, an early Trump Organization golf property. The club hosted the LPGA Tour ADT Championship from 2001 to 2008. REG Architects designed the Mediterranean clubhouse with an oversized porte-cochère and a sweeping veranda; the firm’s portfolio lists a stated project figure of about $20 million. A larger women’s card room was completed in 2018, with a later men’s card-room expansion. Hoodline cites the same 45,000-square-foot figure through New York Attorney General filings. The letter and Abruzzo cite existing on-site security infrastructure as one suitability factor.
The letter lands in the same golf development lane as The Club at Ibis clubhouse renovation already underway in West Palm Beach.
