Wynn Golf Club at Wynn Las Vegas, on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada, opened Cliff House on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026. The new two-level clubhouse, by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill with Wynn Design & Development, stands above the 18th green and is now the primary destination for golfers, according to Wynn Resorts.

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, known as SOM, is the practice behind Lever House, Willis Tower, and Burj Khalifa, as the Las Vegas Review-Journal noted. On this project the firm worked with Wynn Design & Development, where Todd-Avery Lenahan is President and Chief Creative Officer.

The ground has a history. Before Wynn Las Vegas opened, the Desert Inn and its golf course helped define the north end of the Strip, and midcentury residences once stood near the course. The present 18 holes, designed by Tom Fazio and Logan Fazio, occupy the site of the historic Desert Inn course, according to the club.

"With Cliff House, we saw an opportunity to carry the history of this remarkable site forward while paying homage to the past," said Lenahan. "The architecture draws from the midcentury legacy of the Desert Inn, while every detail, including the historic photography and landscape, was considered to create something that feels timeless."

The building is two levels and deliberately horizontal. A continuous ceiling of reclaimed hardwood runs across its interior and exterior spaces, which holds that horizontal line and keeps the same surface overhead whether a visitor is inside or out. Travertine grounds the interiors, with accents of wood and metal, and the palette stays with reddish earth, warm wood, and neutral stone.

One defining move, Wynn says, is the relocation of the pro tee to the roof of the clubhouse. Colin Koop, Design Partner at SOM, described the idea behind it.

"We saw an opportunity to make the architecture part of the golf course, not an object set apart from it," Koop said. "The building is deliberately restrained and horizontal, allowing the landscape to lead. The rooftop tee makes that idea tangible, turning the building itself into part of the course."

Inside, Cliff House collects what a round needs in one building: a new pro shop, locker rooms, and a player's lounge, with the rooftop tee above. It also holds Wynn's Cliff House Grill, a new restaurant whose dining room and terrace look out on the course's waterfall, its mature trees, and the desert landscape.

Executive Chef Patricia Gamez, previously executive chef of Jardin at Wynn Las Vegas, runs the kitchen; her background also includes Girl & the Goat in Los Angeles and Restaurant Gary Danko and Lazy Bear in San Francisco. The menu moves from American clubhouse classics at breakfast and lunch to afternoon bites and sunset cocktails, with a beverage program by Master Mixologist Mariena Mercer Boarini.

Wynn has not published a construction cost, square footage, or builder for the clubhouse.

Most clubhouses are planned as the place a round begins and ends, set beside the golf rather than inside it. Cliff House takes the other position. Its restraint recalls buildings that try to belong to their landscape, as the mountain lodge at Cabot Revelstoke in British Columbia does, but SOM and Wynn went a step further by giving the roof a role in the game. On a resort course on the Las Vegas Strip, where a clubhouse could easily have been one more amenity, Wynn has treated the clubhouse as part of the course itself, and that decision, more than any material, is why the building matters.
