Breezy Point Resort Breaks Ground on Ace Valley's Two-Story Social Clubhouse in Breezy Point, Minnesota
Breezy Point Resort in Breezy Point, Minnesota, broke ground Oct. 5, 2026, on the Ace Valley two-story social clubhouse, with Happy Dave’s and a pro shop, ahead of a summer 2027 opening beside Andy Staples’ new 12-hole par-3.
Breezy Point Resort broke ground on Monday, October 5, on a two-story social clubhouse in Breezy Point, Minnesota, giving the century-old Pelican Lake resort a new front door for its next chapter in golf. The building, known as both the Ace Valley Clubhouse and the Breezy Point Social Club, is targeting a summer 2027 opening, the Pine and Lakes Echo Journal reported. It will anchor Ace Valley, a lighted 12-hole par-3 course by Andy Staples built on part of the resort's historic Traditional course.
The program puts the social side of the game first. Plans center on Happy Dave's, a bar and dining room named in honor of the late Dave Gravdahl, the resort's longtime general manager, along with a pro shop and flexible gathering spaces. The building is meant to hold golfers before, during, and after a round, as well as resort guests and neighbors who may never pick up a club.
Hy-Tec Construction is leading the project as design-build contractor. Widseth, part of the Hy-Tec team, is providing architectural and structural engineering for the building, according to the firm's project announcement. Resort leadership also credited Pratt's Excavating, Borden Excavating, and Central Lakes Landscape among the partners on the job.
Resort president David Spizzo, who owns Breezy Point with Bob Spizzo, described the clubhouse as a place to share a meal or a drink and make memories, whether guests played all 12 holes or simply came for the atmosphere. Eric Hart is managing the project for the resort.
Ace Valley itself comes from Staples Golf Design, the Scottsdale firm led by Andy Staples. The course spreads 12 par-3 holes across about 25 acres of sandy ground and native pines, and lighting will carry play well after sunset. The holes blend natural and artificial turf.

Template greens borrow from celebrated holes in Scotland, Ireland, and England. The headliner is an island-green bonus hole with a progressive jackpot, designed to encourage aces and sited a few steps from the new clubhouse. A signature rooftop tee shot and an 18-hole putting course round out the program.

The new course occupies part of the resort's historic Traditional layout. Ten of those holes will carry on as the Traditional 10, keeping a piece of Breezy Point's early golf history in play.

Ace Valley is not the only 12-hole par-3 headed for a destination resort. Cabot has approved one at Revelstoke, where it is also building a Mountain Lodge in British Columbia's Columbia River Valley.
Project partners are working toward a mid-summer 2027 opening for the clubhouse and course together. The building's program already says plenty about the bet: a bar, a dining room, and room to linger, organized around everyday traffic rather than set-piece events. It is the same priority, reached by a very different road, that shaped the clubhouse Juday Creek is rebuilding in Granger, Indiana.
At Breezy Point, the clubhouse is not an afterthought to the golf. It is where the owners expect the evening to end, under the lights, a few steps from the island green.
