Juday Creek Golf Course in Granger, Indiana, broke ground on a new clubhouse on Tuesday, September 22, opening a rebuild that has been more than two years in the making. A fire destroyed the original clubhouse in August 2024, and the course has operated without one since, according to WSBT and WNDU.

The club is owned by Linda Rogers and her husband, Mike Rogers, and remains a family operation. WNDU identifies Linda Rogers as an Indiana state senator. Construction will stay close to home as well. According to WSBT, the builder is Nugent Builders, run by a member of the owners' family.

The new clubhouse will be a more compact building than the one it replaces, at roughly half the previous footprint. The largest change is the loss of the banquet room. The owners cited rising construction costs, updated building codes, and limited insurance coverage as reasons for leaving it out. Rogers told WNDU that costs and regulations had also slowed the path to groundbreaking, and that the family was glad to finally move the rebuild forward.

The space that remains has been given over to daily use. The program calls for more bathrooms than the old building had, golf simulators, and a deck overlooking the course. WNDU reports that the new clubhouse will look similar to the original, a choice that should give returning golfers a sense of continuity even as the building shrinks.

Clubs that rebuild or renovate often find that the rooms golfers use every round matter more than the rooms reserved for occasional events, a logic that shaped the lounge and men's locker room work at Moselem Springs and the clubhouse investment at Oldfield. Juday Creek is arriving at a similar place through necessity rather than preference, but the result points in the same direction: a building sized around the golfer.

There is no set completion date. WNDU reports that the owners hope to finish by the end of 2027, while Rogers told WSBT that she wants the building done as soon as possible but that it is still too soon to name a firm date. Published accounts do not include a construction budget, an exact square footage, or an architect of record.

Across the Midwest, Lochmoor Club in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, is facing the same hard reset after a September 2026 fire left its 1969 clubhouse a total loss, with leadership already telling members they will rebuild.

For a public course in a residential community, the clubhouse does more than sell green fees and hot dogs. It is where golfers gather after a round, where neighbors cross paths, and where a family business greets its customers. Juday Creek has kept its course open for two seasons without that anchor. Tuesday's groundbreaking marks the point at which the club begins to rebuild the part of the property that turns a golf course back into a gathering place.
